Lodz University of Technology was established in 1945 and is situated in third biggest city of Poland. It is a dynamically evolving university with well- developed structure. Education and research is provided at nine faculties but there are many complimentary units functioning within the university. Nowadays Lodz University of Technology is one of the biggest and the best state universities in Poland. There are over 20.000 students at the University.

Lodz University of Technology gives to all students have the opportunity to learn modern languages. The Foreign Languages Centre runs courses of English, French, German, Russian and special Polish courses (offered also at the International Faculty of Engineering) free of charge for international students. In general, language instruction is provided for all students, including practice in comprehension, reading, oral and, where necessary, written work. Intermediate and advanced students are familiarised with elements of technical language as well as texts relevant to their area of study. Modern language laboratories are available at the Language Centre and at the International Faculty of Engineering.
